About the Author:
Benito Ortolani is professor emeritus of Brooklyn College, City University of New York. Major publications include: "The Japanese Theatre," "Pirandello's Love Letters to Marta Abba," and "Das Kabukitheater, Kulturgeschichte der Anfaenge." He is founder and editor of the "International Bibliography of Theatre."
Samuel Leiter serves as editor of the "Asian Theatre Journal," is on the editorial board of "Theatre Symposium," and is on the executive committee of the American Society for Theatre Research. He is the author of numerous articles in journals such as "Educational Theatre Journal," "Theatre History Studies," and "Drama Survey." His most recent books include: "New Kabuki Encyclopedia: A Revised Adaptation of Kabuki Jiten," and "The Great Stage Directors: 100 Distinguished Careers of the Theatre."
