About the Author
Richard E. Gilbert is the owner of Ashland Investments, an international mail order business founded in 1963 which specializes in antique jewelry, pocket watches and vintage wrist watches. Mr. Gilbert holds both Bachelor and Masters degrees in Science. He has been a leading dealer and authority on watches and jewelry for over 35 years. His expertise and opinions are sought after by other dealers and major collectors. Mr. Gilbert is co-author of the Complete Price Guide to Watches, along with Mr. Cooksey Shugart. This book updated on an annual basis is recognized as the professional standard of watch price guide.
Mr. James H. Wolf holds a bachelor degree in Fine Arts and has been involved in the antique watch and jewelry market since 1979 as Manager of Sales for Ashland Investments. He serves as a special consultant an values and information listed in the Complete Price Guide to Watches. Mr. Wolf has also produced over 50 specialty catalogs which are designed to market antique jewelry, vintage wristwatches and pocket watches to collectors throughout the world. This catalog series has become the most respected of its kind in the business.
The authors are long-standing members of the NAWCC (National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors) and they are considered foremost experts in the field of horology and vertu. The authors travel extensively to major auctions throughout the United States and Europe. They also attend regional and national conventions and shows. Through the years, they have continued to expand their reference library which contains complete jewelry and watch auction results for the past 25 years as well many rare books and articles on jewelry, horology and vertu. The authors keep an up-to-date pulse on the jewelry and watch market through the daily business transactions of Ashland Investments.
