Synopsis
Many see the Book of Esther, traditionally read publically on the holiday of Purim, as a contrived folk-tale -- little more than an engaging fiction serving as the rationale for an enduring, light-hearted celebration. But if religious faith and practice can be based on a complete fiction, then what does that say about the underlying value of that faith? If one credits faith for survival, then the events that led to the perpetuation and institutionalization of that faith ought to be verifiable. This unique volume includes the complete Hebrew text and English translation of the Book of Esther.
