About the Author

Robert J. Thomas first ran for political office in November of 1989. Before he ran for the office of mayor in the city of Westland, Michigan, he was a municipal union worker in the department of public service. No one gave him a chance of winning against the incumbant who had him outspent five to one. Robert put together a strategy to win and then went on to win two more reelection campaigns for mayor. He is still the longest serving mayor in the history of Westland, Michigan. Since his retirement in 2002, after serving twelve consecutive years as mayor, he has advised and consulted hundreds of campaigns around the country. He has since written the book, How to Stay in Public Office, which is available on Amazon.com. He has also written three western novels and plans on writing a political suspense novel soon.
