Sins of the Father is the third western novel in the series based on the character Jess Williams. In book one, Jess hunts down the men who brutally murdered his family. In book two, he hunts down the brother he never knew he had. Now, in book three, Sins of the Father, Jess has been on the trail of his father, Eddie Sloan for two years; but his father has always been one step ahead of him. When Jess finally gets him in his sights, he is detoured once again by a call for help. Marshal Frank Reedy is locked up in jail in Timber, Texas and Sheriff Mark Steele is near death from an ambush. Jess heads to Timber and into a bloody range war between two cattle barons. Rance Madden and his hired killers have no idea of the trouble that is heading their way. Jess arrives and Madden's men start dying one by one and he begins to feel the grip of death at his throat--and Jess is slowly tightening the noose.

Robert J. Thomas published his first book while serving as the Mayor of Westland, Michigan. After he retired, his love of westerns pushed him to write a western series based on the exciting character, Jess Williams. To date, he had written 67 books in the Jess Williams western series. He continues to write them while overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. He now live in Mississippi with his beautiful wife, Jill.
This third book in the series of Jess Williams western novels is every bit as good as the first two. I like a lot of action in a western and I was not disapointed. Someone should make a movie or a mini-series out of this series of novels. I dare anyone to start reading this novel or either of the first two and put it down without finishing it. I pray the author writes a fourth book using the same main character. --A western afficionado from Arizona
The action in book one and two was non stop and exciting. In this third book in the series, the main character, Jess Williams, continues to dole out deadly justice to those deserving of it. This character is ahead of his time in so many ways, using almost gorrila tactics to get the job done. In the end, he faces off with his father; you don't want to miss that. Western novels are western novels, but these westerns are truely different from all the rest! --Clayton, from Idaho!
