In early 1998, we began our Y2K preparedness efforts. We had concluded that Y2K was indeed a serious, inevitable problem. Faced with the far-reaching and potentially severe consequences associated with the Year 2000 crisis and its immovable deadline, we set out to research preparedness strategies for potential electric power and water supply outages; telecommunications failures; economic disasters; and a wide array of situations we had never dealt with before.
