The popular raconteur of Precision Shooting magazine has an almost cult-like following among the readership. Here are 30 of his best tales, some previously published in that magazine, and others are brand new. The author writes with a combination of droll humor, conservative philosophy, and above all, the ability to spin a yarn.

The author found himself mixed up in most of the goings-on of the second half of the 20th century. One of the very first Alaskan State Troopers when that vast land became a state back in 1959, he found himself the only lawman for hundreds of square miles. He went on from there to become a reporter/photographer for Time-Life News Service; the only one in Alaska, which brought him into almost daily contact with most of the legendary Bush-pilots of that era. In earlier days, Joe, a Marine, survived the Battle of Okinawa, and was a Marine combat photographer during the Korean War.
