With the confidence of a master storyteller and the precision of a trained historian, David Falconieri weaves together an intricate tale of honor, treachery, power, and intrigue in The Beggars Throne. Recounting the dynastic struggle between the Lancasterians and the Yorkists during the 15th-century War of the Roses, The Beggars Throne will delight both historians and general audiences.

About the Author:
A lifelong history enthusiast, David Falconieri first became intrigued by the War of the Roses as a teenager while reading Shakespeares historical plays. After six years abroad, he traveled to Britain and began researching The Beggars Throne by immersing himself in 15th-century English history, examining ancient texts and visiting battle sites. He was born in Ohio, and lives in Denver, Colorado, with his wife Danamarie. The Beggars Throne is his first novel.
From Library Journal:
Like many novels set in the Middle Ages, Falconieri's first effort has damsels in distress and handsome knights, but the difference is that this is also a very well-written and exciting read. The Wars of the Roses and their principal figures have often been fictionalized but rarely with such a sure hand. Both Lancastrian and Yorkist views are represented here. Young Edward IV is fierce and noble, while Henry VI is a dreamy, gentle man who never particularly wanted to be king, much less embroiled in a bloody struggle for the throne. The story is told from the viewpoints of kings, nobles, warriors, and commoners, making for a well-rounded and readable tale. Particularly interesting is the story of Samuel and Christopher Miller, two brothers who wind up on opposite sides of the struggle. The history here is good, the writing is better, and the action is almost nonstop. Recommended for all public libraries.DWendy Bethel, Grove City P.L., OH
