Mr. Darcy has long been every woman s ideal. Darkly handsome, he is a gentleman of vast wealth and exceptional leg. His virility, whilst of considerable note, is not what invites our adoration. His true allure is his all-encompassing love for his wife. Indeed, Elizabeth and Darcy s passion for each other remains steadfast. In this, Ms. Berdoll s 4th continuation, there is but one test that stands in the way of the Darcys boundless happiness. It is an ordeal familiar to parents through the ages. Their offspring have come of age and are eager to pursue their own love affairs. Moreover, Elizabeth Darcy, the Mistress of Pemberley, has been overtaken by a peculiar malaise. Her disorder has the entire family in a state of agitation. Darcy is particularly uneasy. Hence, when he learns that his son engaged in a flirtation with a village wench, he reproves him a tad too vehemently. His pride injured, Geoff flings himself headlong down Calamity Road in the company of George Wickham s son.

About the Author:
Linda Berdoll says: I have been asked many times what possessed me to write a sequel to one of the most beloved novels in the English language. As time passes and hundreds of authors cast their own versions and continuations unto the fray, my answer remains unvarying. The reason I wrote Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife was quite simple. I was so swept away by the BBC mini-series of Pride & Prejudice that I simply could not bear to have the story end. As no one else had dared to embark on such heresy, I did it myself (thus, inventing a literary genre). It took no small amount of research. I read and reread all of Austen's other novels and several biographies. But it was a book of her letters to her sister Cassandra that really intrigued me. As I began to read other nonfiction about the Regency era, I was struck, not so much by what Jane Austen told us, but what she did not. As remarkable a writer as she was, Miss Austen wrote only of what a respectable unmarried woman in Regency society would be privy to. Her books end with the lovers wedding ceremony. For many of us, that is not the end, but the beginning of life's story. Regrettably, in ending P&P on the cusp of what undoubtedly would be a marriage of unrivaled passion, she has left many of her readers with a case of literary coitus interruptus. While I was the first, many others have written their own versions of the story. I wrote mine with nothing if not a sense of fun. Indeed, I longed to imagine what Darcy might have whispered into Lizzy's ear so to speak - in their nuptial chamber. Others fall into a swoon at the notion of such sacrilege. If you, Dear Reader, happen to fall into the latter category, please heed this caution before you read any of my sequels: Hang onto your bonnet, you're in for a bumpy ride. Linda Berdoll
Review:
By chatty1082 on November 3, 2016 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase In this 4th book of Ms Berdoll we see the Darcy's children all grown up. Again Ms Berdoll makes the everyday seem interesting and the trials to be had real and stressful. She does a great job of forwarding the story while revisiting what happened in the past 3 books, she does it seamlessly. Young Darcy is coming into his own and trying to feel some oats while staying a gentleman. His twin while being a lady is trying to be the adult in the room, keeping everyone honest. And of course the youngest not yet out wants her share of fun and not very happy to being constrained. While all this is going on there is a huge surprise with our favorite couple which send everyone uneasy. We do hear from the Bingleys and though George Wickham has been banished his boys are not and they definitely do not disappoint in the depraved department. I did enjoy this installment and rated it 4 1/2 stars so I popped it up to 5. For those fans of Ms Berdoll will be very pleased. A definite must read. --Amazon

By Regina M Mayorga on November 6, 2016 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase I'll admit I hold a soft spot for this author's books. The first two stories in this series are what introduced me to this world of JAFF and I've gone back to revisit them a few times since. Now I have a new great tale to re read! This story has everything you loved about her other ones, only now the Darcys' children are fully grown. Along with Darcy and Lizzy enjoying life as a couple heading into their "dotage" we see their twins Geoff and Janie and Maria going through the same things their parents went through. And though Lizzy may seem like she's done with childbirth, hmm is she really?? Geoff seems to be a replica of his father, in his physical beauty as well as overall bearing. Just as pride and temptation both surrounded his father, so do they surround Geoff. And of course, being like minded, they clash but it's a particular conflict that sends this story spiraling out of control. Well, not really but it sets many things into motion. Then there's Janie who is certainly my favorite Darcy child. She is like her mother, witty and level headed and sometimes the only voice of reason in this nutty family. And oh Maria...it seems that the Darcys have bred their own Lydia Bennet. Go figure. Jane and Lydia's children also play a major role in this story, especially Bertie Wickham who, along with his two brothers, are unfortunately and clearly their parents' children. And Eliza Bingley, who quickly became a hateful character for me. I won't reveal why but she sets her eyes on the WRONG man. I knew it was coming but it was horrifying to see...and yet slightly amusing all things considered haha. Ms. Berdoll certainly has a gift for mixing humor and gravity in her stories seamlessly. --Amazon
