Defining what it means by "in sickness and in health," the author takes her readers on an introspective journey that begins in serenity and then hits an unexpected fork in the road where the sign reads Cancer and the arrow points down. The book is dedicated to the husband she lost, but it might have been written for all loving wives who must follow the same path-- from the hospital corridors, through the mapless mazes of grief, and then finally into a new and resilient recovery. Anyone who's going through a similar experience will not merely read, but will recognize, this book. "Moving. Eloquent...Words that resonate powerfully on the page..." -Kaity Tong, Broadcast Journalist, WPIX-TV, New York. "..A wonderful memoir that poses the essential questions we all ask when we lose the people we love." -Dee Ito, author of Without Estrogen

Yvette Nachmias-Baeu has led an eclectic life, following her wide range of interests to where they led. She has, for example, been a psychiatric nurse, a working actress, an advertising producer for a major New York agency, a farmer in Rhode Island, a founder of the South County Montessor School, an administrator of a Masters program at Brown University and a creative entrepreneur. In 1999, she contracted a rare autoimmune disease and, surviving it,volunteered as a health coach advisor for the Interenational Pemphigus and Pemphigoid Foundation. Then, too, all the while, she's been writing essays and verse and is about to embark on fiction.
"Powerful...quietly poetic...A profoundly felt and beautifully written chronicle.. Nachmias-Baeu is particularly adept at making deeply personal moments universally recognizable. Where the book is difficult, it is not unrelenting. Like grief itself, the emotions expressed [here] ebb and flow; despair is balanced by profound gratitude for life, love and connection..." --Grace Magazine, April 18, 2012
