About the Author:
Stephen Troutman is IBM’s world wide process design owner for the opportunity management process. His OM process provides both standards and best practices direction for sales and opportunity management activities across all IBM businesses. Prior to this assignment, he spent 12 years as an IBM business transformation consultant and associate partner in IBM Business Consulting Services, and prior to that, he spent 14 years in IBM sales and sales management. With over 30 years of experience in management, sales and consulting, Steve is an occasional speaker on transformation management, futures topics and, of course, virtual teaming. He has led or coached remote and virtual teams in commercial business, government, and non-profit organizations. Steve has both an MBA in entrepreneurship and venture management and a BS in management from the University of Southern California. Gerald Falkowski is recently retired from IBM where he was an associate partner in IBM Business Consulting Services. He has over 35 years of industry experience in management and consulting. Mr. Falkowski has built a national reputation in global teaming techniques, organization change management, and organization network analysis. He is currently serving as a University of Minnesota adjunct faculty member teaching two classes: Creating and Leading Global Teams and Organization Change Management. He does part-time consulting to help companies implement their global teaming strategies and works with corporate HR directors in coaching individuals to become effective global leaders working in a matrix organization. Mr. Falkowski is a guest instructor on virtual teaming and organization network assessment at the University of Michigan Business School, University of Chicago Graduate Business School and Babson College MBA program.
