If you wish to learn about cats, only a cat can tell you. Humans mean well when they write cat stories, but they are far less advanced than they fancy themselves. Sometimes, but rarely, a human is lucky enough to imagine part of himself into a cat. This would allow that person ’s cat to imagine part of himself into a human being. And that’s where the magical relationship begins! I am one of those lucky cats.
I was born in Mexico City, lived out my young years there, then moved to San Diego, California as a young adult. Both my brother, Canica, and I are bilingual and bicultural. We are equally comfortable being summoned with “bichu bichu ” in Spanish or “kitty, kitty, here kitty ”in English. Because of this, we have perfected the art of eavesdropping to our great advantage, allowing us to be the architects of our own lives.
This journal follows my humble birth in Mexico City, my carefree childhood and youth, and a portion of my adult years in California. It will take you on an adventurous roller coaster ride of stories —some happy, some sad, others frightening and challenging, but all meaningful. This unique and interesting tale depicts only a part of my life. Even as you read this page, I’m sunning myself and dreaming of the sequel.
