Review:
Math resources are no mystery! This father-daughter team has created a charming collection of one minute stories that describe real-life situations where mathematical thinking can be helpful. Characters matter-of-factly invoke mathematics to address all sorts of scenarios. Some present clever ways to estimate, other stories dispel common misconceptions. The mysteries are enticing and often have an unexpected twist. They are relevant, everyday situations, and children can likely picture themselves in similar circumstances. Anticipate that students will turn to their mathematical toolboxes to tackle their challenges. (Perla Myers Teaching Children Mathematics, October 2012/Vol. 19/No. 3)

Few things zap the fun out of math quicker than a worksheet full of numbers. The mysteries in 65 Short Mysteries You Solve With Math! are word problems that stress cross-curricular reading comprehension, Core Curriculum focused real-world application and a hint of out-of-the-box thinking. They engage students and make math fun! (Think Teachers Magazine)

These books are some of the most engaging nonfiction books I have ever read! They correlate so well with our science curriculum and the Common Core State Standards. The reason we love them is because they have real-world applications. With Mississippi adopting the new Common Core State Standards, using nonfiction texts is very important. Science, Naturally!’s books are an excellent asset to our teachers' resource libraries! (Sonya Smith, Science Coordinator, ATOMS2XP (Advancing Teachers of Middle School Science) and IMPACT2 (In-depth Mathematical Practices and Content Teacher Training), Miss. State, MS)

Encouraging critical thinking skills, it teaches children to think quickly and scientifically. One Minute Mysteries: 65 Short Mysteries You Solve With Science! is a highly recommended purchase for science teachers who want to introduce a bit of extra fun into the classroom. (Willis M. Buhle, Reviewer, Buhle's Bookshelf Buhle's Bookshelf)

This is a fantastic book for quizzing students during the last 10 minutes of class or as a transition activity. The resource section at the back of the book offers fabulous ideas and resources for budding scientists, and the index is very helpful. It can be used for a review after a unit of study, to supplement a unit of study, or to extend a unit of study. Overall, it would be a great addition to any classroom library! (Tracy Alley, Teacher & Coordinator of Gifted Programs Madeira City Schools & Adjunct Professor, University of Cincinnati)

101 Things Everyone Should Know About Science employs a completely user-friendly Q & A format to introduce readers to key concepts in biology, chemistry, physics, earth and general science. An ideal addition to home schooling curricula and particularly recommended for school and community libraries. This compendium of diverse, fun facts is as entertaining and engaging as it is informed and informative! (Midwest Book Review)

One of the hardest things to teach middle school kids is how math concepts relate to real life. Many students are convinced that they will never need to use formulas and theorems in day-to-day activities. 101 Things Everyone Should Know About Math gives sound and practical examples of how knowing math really does help you solve real world problems. Whether you excel in math or struggle with it, there’s something in this book for you! (James Singagliese, Principal, Holy Family School, Florham Park, NJ)

101 Things Everyone Should Know About Math truly illustrates the scope and importance of learning and understanding mathematics. It is a fabulous resource for kids, parents and teachers looking for a way to link mathematics to everyday life. With entertaining connections to popular culture, sports, hobbies, science and careers, kids of all ages will find this book engaging...and challenging! (Carole Basile, Ed. D., Univeristy of Colorado, Denver, and Co-Director, Rocky Mountain Middle School Math and Science Partnership)
