About the Author

Dyanne Fry Cortez is the author of Hot Jams & Cold Showers: Scenes from the Kerrville Folk Festival (Dos Puertas Publishing, 2000). Her work has appeared in Texas Parks & Wildlife, Hill Country View, The Austin Chronicle, The Good Life, and Enchanted Rock. She was one of fifty-five authors featured in Cupid's Wild Arrows, an international anthology on cross-cultural romance.

Javier Cortez has been a buckskinner, tipi camper, and creator of wearable art since the early 1970s. His bead and leather crafts have been seen in films, music videos, and album covers. He frequently takes part in storytelling and interpretive exhibits at festivals and heritage fairs.

Mr. and Ms. Cortez married in 1988. They currently reside in Austin, Texas, and go camping with their tipi every chance they get.
