TERRY AXELROD is the founder and CEO of Benevon (formerly Raising More Money), a Seattle-based organization that has trained more than 3,000 nonprofits around the world in fundraising, including The Salvation Army, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Red Cross. Thousands more have read her books. She has over thirty years of experience in the nonprofit field, including founding three nonprofit organizations in healthcare and affordable housing. She created the Benevon Model in 1996 after working at an inner-city Seattle school, where she designed and implemented the fundraising and marketing programs that yielded $7.2 million in two-and-a-half years and received a cover story in the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
