Welding Secrets. No other book will prevent more accidents. It tells where not to weld and contains 75 photographs, 10 sketches and a wealth of knowledge from 49 years of experience.
Welding Secrets explains why a weld bead shrinks more where it stops than it does where it starts. Pictures of test welds show the difference between "free expansion" and "confined expansion". It explains how stresses, caused by a weld made under confined expansion, can harm the workpiece.
Welding Secrets is a welding guide for the self taught welder, as well as the more experienced welder. It makes a great training manual and is used across the USA by many major manufacturers.

Hal Wilson; a native of Chattanooga, TN, USA and the president of Flyco Machine Company; died in 1997 at age 86. He was a lifetime member of Alhambra Temple, a member of the International Independent Showmen's Association, East Lake Lodge #698, and Ridgedale Baptist Church.
As a young man he was a welder during the week and worked at the skating rink at Lake Winnepesaukah on the weekends. In 1939 he helped build boats for the boat chute water ride at the park. He then built the first ferris wheel which opened there in 1940. It was built in his mother's backyard with the help of friends who worked for promise of pay when the project turned a profit. The next year he added the first auto skooter ride at Lake Winnepesaukah. He was affiliated with Warner Park, having rides there as well as in Chippewa Lake Park and Idora Park, both in Ohio.
He operated portable rides also, one of which he redesigned, named the flying coaster. From his vast experience of building and repairing rides, Mr Wilson was inspired to write a book titled Welding Secrets, which is now being widely used in the USA as a training manual.
