This is a wonderful book for any individual who is trying to figure out why they are no longer comfortable with the Christianity of their youth, and are searching for a new way to think, and talk about their faith. --Fred C. Plumer, President, Center for Progressive Christianity
Gary Wilburn has been a rock, a moral compass, and a fearless burning bush compelling thousands in our community to think beyond ourselves . . . to consider how we can affect all of mankind . . . . He loathes indifference and celebrates those who are unafraid to challenge the status quo for the sake of truth . . . . --Michael Turpin, News Review Columnist
Gary took a risk with his congregations, looking to soften the hard shell often forged from ego and self-centered fear. He challenged us to take a position on things that offended our ever-developing sense of what was just and true. He cried at indifference. He choked on apathy, and he sobbed over those who were marginalized by a world that felt no compulsion to intervene. We learned to laugh and cry with him and to accept with him that life is indeed a wonderful but indeed terminal condition --Michael Turpin, News Review Columnist
