About the Author

Marie Isom is a caring, loving mother of two boys. When her oldest son was ten-years old, she began searching for answers concerning Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Hoping to help others while helping herself, Marie quickly became immersed in the world of ADD by co-founding a support/information group for parents. Their main concerns were children’s rights in education and behavior modification. Upon discovering confusing or conflicting information, Marie began writing a book that would guide parents, teachers, and caregivers toward a better understanding of this condition. Creating positive, fun, and commonsense strategies for home and school became her goal. She believes that parents need to educate themselves and share what they learn with their children. "Parents deserve validation for their tremendous efforts. It takes a lot of energy and a healthy dose of patience to raise these kids," she says. Her dedication and volunteerism have earned her awards from the Hawaii County Council and the State of Hawaii, House of Representatives. Marie has been married for twenty-one years to her husband James and lives in Hawaii with their two sons, Levi and Beau.
