About the Author
David Shepherd received his B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, where he has also served on the faculty of the McComb's School of Business. Shepherd has taught one of the nation's largest undergraduate courses in entrepreneurship, as well as graduate courses in new venture finance. Through various University of Texas programs, as well as his own consulting practice, Shepherd has met and worked with thousands of small business owners. Himself the founder of four businesses, Shepherd now travels the nation speaking and conducting his "8 Steps" workshop on behalf of chambers of commerce, banks, associations, and other advocates of small business development. In addition to delivering workshops in 24 cities each year, Shepherd conducts two annual events--his "Business and Life Planning Retreat" in Cancun, Mexico, and his "Risk Taking for Business and Life" workshop in Las Vegas. The Charlotte Business Journal said that "Shepherd has been billed as a combination of Tony Robbins and Tom Peters," providing equal measures of inspiration and education.
