Synopsis

A FLASHLIGHT BOOK has been written. It has 320 pages of flashlights and related collectibles, most in color, to serve as a flashlight reference book and price guide. This flashlight history book contains over 2500 illustrations of flashlights and related collectibles. The author founded the "Flashlight Collectors of America" club in 1989 and published 80, eight page quarterly Flashlight Newsletters over 20 years. Complete Newsletter Sets will be available on Amazon in the future. The book is titled "Flashlights." It explores the evolution of flashlights, dry cell batteries and carbon filament bulbs necessary for the flashlight to become a reality. The first practical form of portable electric light was the Acme Bicycle light invented in 1896. The tubular flashlight and D battery was invented in 1898. The patent was acquired by Conrad Hubert who founded the Ever Ready Company in 1898. The first two chapters of the book cover pioneer flashlight makers, their catalogs, patents and unique flashlights. Chapters 3 through 11 present a detailed, chronological study of Eveready flashlights and related collectibles. The book illustrates almost every flashlight and related collectible made by Eveready from 1898 through 2000. Chapter 12, the final chapter, is a brief study of British Ever Ready and their distinctive flashlights. A Rarity Guide number is included in the caption, under each flashlight photograph. A separate "Value Guide" is included with each book.
