Synopsis
Personal stories about Alaska too often are told by men. Not this time. Here are stories written from women such as Molly Heath, stranded with her children far from home after the 1964 Good Friday earthquake, and Janet McCart, whose eyes are opened working on the trans-Alaska pipeline. Women were outnumbered 25 to 1 in the Klondike Gold Rush. Thousands more followed their men's dreams to Alaska in the century that followed. This created the myth that Alaska was a "man's country." About the Author
Dana Stabenow is the author of nineteen novels and the Alaska Traveler column in Alaska magazine, as well as various short stories, essays, and the occasional vitriolic guest editorial in the Anchorage Daily News. She co-hosts ""Book Talk Alaska"", a monthly radio book club on the air on Alaska Public Radio, and is an explorer for Alaska Magazine Television.
