About the Author

HUSAIN ABDUL SATTAR is currently an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Born and raised in Chicago, he holds a B.S. from the University of Chicago and an M.D. from the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine. Additionally, for over a decade he has consistently pursued sacred knowledge from traditional scholars in the United States, Syria, and Pakistan, including a three-year stay in Islamabad where he completed a course of study at Jamia Faridia. He possesses several formal authorizations in the Islamic sciences including an authorization in the science of Islamic spirituality (Tasawwuf). This text highlights his ability to transmit the knowledge of his teachers to students in the Western world.
