This is the personal memoir of Michele Cozzens, the story of young couple who gave up their professional jobs in a major city to move to the woods in Wisconsin and run a resort and disc golf course. Written after their first ten years of operation, chapter titles include: "How Did We Do It?" "The Vision;" "The Job;" "Frequently Asked Questions" (questions resort guests ask week after week); "Meet The Neighbors;" "People Can Be Jerks;" "Staff Infection;" and "My So Called Dream Life."

We'd like to be very clear that this book is primarily a memoir. After our first ten years of operation, we told our personal story hundreds of times to everyone who asked how we managed to create their "dream life." This book tells the truth--the whole truth--and it's not always pretty. Fellow resort owners and those who work in small businesses open to the public love and relate to our story/stories. We hear from them week-after-week.For those readers looking for a HOW-TO book about the innkeeping business, please read the book "How To Achieve Your Dream Life: Start-up Advice from a Successful Innkeeper," McKenna Publishing Group, May, 2012.
Michele VanOrt Cozzens was a journalist working for San Francisco area newspapers. In 1992, she and her husband, a former stock market trader, moved to the Northwoods and now own and operate the Sandy Point Resort and Disc Golf Ranch in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin. Many readers of this memoir wrote asking for an additional book featuring more start-up advice for aspiring innkeepers. She has provided that. After 20 years of resort ownership, Michele has written "How To Achieve Your Dream Life: Start-up Advice From a Successful Innkeeper." Michele is also the author of the novels, "A Line Between Friends;" "It's Not Your Mother's Bridge Club;" and "Irish Twins."
