Tucked near the bustling theme parks of Orlando, Florida, is a little village full of history with a lovely name: Winter Park, Florida. From its museums to its old-fashioned Central Park--complete with train station--to its chic Park Avenue filled with shops and restaurants, Winter Park is a delightful day trip away from the artificial and into the genuine of Florida's past and present. The Absolutely Essential Guide to Winter Park is a 129-page guide to the little town's history, world-class museums, and delightful destinations, including the Scenic Boat Tour--one of the few genuine eco-tours available in any Florida town. This book is a must read for anyone coming to Central Florida, or any family considering Rollins College for their student. Featuring vintage postcards of Winter Park, the guide is as lovely as the town and is something you'll want to read, enjoy, and share with friends and family.

"As a traveler who's always been fascinated by Old Florida--its towns, its lore, and its eccentrics--I found The Absolutely Essential Guide to Winter Park an irresistible treat. Robin Chapman's come up with the perfect way to share the marvelous spirit and splendid history of her adopted hometown." Michele Slung, author of Momilies®
"Winter Park has been a winter resort since the day it was founded, as you will learn in this book, so it has hosted quite a few vacationers over the years. What is one of the things people do on vacation, besides relax? They send postcards to their families and friends, especially if they themselves are in the sunshine and their families and friends are not, to let them know that they are 'having a wonderful time' and 'wish you were here.' Which leads me to the postcards used in this book. Many of them are more than a century old, and I've used them to show Winter Park through the years in as many places as possible. Each postcard says a lot about Winter Park and Florida history, from the pictures people have chosen to send, to the postcards that companies have chosen to produce through the years. These postcards are little pieces of our culture as well as examples of visual art and slices of our history. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. My grateful thanks to Mr. Rick Frazee and Mr. Russell Hughes for loaning me cards from their collections."
