Review:

By chalky_tea on July 21, 2014Format: PaperbackThis is the most practically oriented of Roger Williamson's books. Its brevity is a feature and not a bug: it is a collection of exercises designed to be put to use. Williamson's "Howling at the Sky" fleshes out the theoretical framework used for these exercises.

"The Black Book of the Jackal" opens with a script for a guided meditation, followed by a theoretical fusion of Qabalah and the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Instructions and practical tips for using this fusion are provided, along with scripts for entry into each station of the ancient Egyptian otherworld. Banishing and invocation rituals, tables of correspondences, and explanatory diagrams are also provided. Altogether, there is a wealth of information here.

It is very easy to get in the habit of reading these kinds of books without letting them change your behavior. Williamson's writing is charged with a straight-forward insistence that helps one break this habit. He sprinkles priceless practical insights throughout his books. You will benefit from them, no matter what your orientation.
