After years of inspiring Clarkeston College choristers, Dorothy Henderson has established herself as one of the best-loved professors on campus. But in the fall of her sixtieth year, her well-ordered life begins to unravel. Evan Roberts, an openly gay colleague fresh from Julliard, storms into the music department with a chip on his shoulder and little reverence for local icons. Devastating news from her doctor, followed by the appearance of a delusional accompanist and a long-lost lover, further undermine her sense of control. As she prepares for her final performance - her requiem - the stubborn and independent director finds that she can no longer go it alone in this bittersweet tale of friendship, self-discovery and courage in the face of death.
