TIM KEMPLE is a 23-year-old adventure photographer from southern New Hampshire. A climber for over 12 years, he is intrigued by all aspects of the sport. He has redpointed 5.14 clip ups, established V12 boulder problems, and is one of the principle members of a small group of climbers quietly bringing the British gritstone "headpointing" style to the Northeast. This trend has resulted in several 5.13 r/x horror shows, unlikely to be crowded on the busiest of weekends. Tim grew up climbing on the boulders of Pawtuckaway State Park, Lincoln Woods, and Rumney, and has climbed nearly every problem in the guide. His newest project, Kemple Media brings together the region’s best photographers, videographers, web designers, and writers to create books, websites, videos, and more.
PETE WARD moved to New England in 1993 to attend college and began bouldering shortly thereafter. Since then he has fallen in love with the region’s unique mix of awful weather and excellent bouldering.
Having participated in the early stages of the bouldering explosion at New York’s Shawangunks in the mid 1990s, Ward saw immediate potential in the rolling hills of New England. He was one of the first to find and develop bouldering in Western Massachusetts.
Although not a writer by training, Ward has been a frequent contributor to the popular website NewEnglandBouldering.com. His Life on The Road series for NEB.com chronicled a nine-month climbing trip across the USA. Since that trip Ward has continued to write for electronic and print media. Look for his first feature in Climbing magazine later in 2004.
