From the Author

Having the background of swimming and the technical knowledge of navigation put me in a special position in the swimming world. I concentrated upon lowering the record time for the swim around Manhattan. It was a difficult and challenging project. To learn about this swim I began doing research on old Manhattan swims but kept noticing all the other swims around the world. Eventually, I travel with some swimmers to help set up swims and met some wonderful people who assist swimmers achieve their goals. This book is as much about swimming as it is the people who make the swims possible.
