Dr. Susan D. Gilster is a leader in innovative healthcare project development and has been involved in creating programs and organizations in the United States and abroad. As an educator, researcher and practitioner, Dr. Gilster has published and presented nationally and internationally on a variety of heath and program development topics, including leadership development, organizational change, Alzheimer s disease programs, staff satisfaction, recruitment and retention, family satisfaction, and environmental and behavioral interventions. She has directed several research projects, many national in scope, from clinical interventions to experimental drug therapies. Dr. Gilster has been responsible for the development and operation of the Alois Alzheimer Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, the first free-standing Alzheimer s and dementia facility in the United States. As Executive Director, she established a nationally recognized, specialized continuum of care for individuals with dementia. Under her direction the facility and staff have received numerous awards and recognition. Dr. Gilster also serves as a volunteer professor for The University of Cincinnati and Xavier University in Cincinnati.
