As the title points out, this is a user-friendly, accessible guide to Jewish religion, culture and practices. The uniqueness of this book lies in the way the information is presented. Each page has a side bar that highlights the most important information contained in that page. Each chapter is followed by an "At-A-Glance" section that summarizes the information contained in that chapter. The appendix contains, among other topics, the differences and similarities between Judaism and ÊChristianity presented in a positive way, as well an overview of Jewish objects present in the Synagogue and the Jewish home. It is my hope that the reader finds in Accessible Judaism: A Concise Guide, a useful tool for understanding Judaism in a comprehensive and inclusive way.

Rabbi Jacques Cukierkorn, ordained at Hebrew Union College (Cincinnati) is considered an expert on the so-called anusim, the descendents of Jews who were forced to convert to Christianity but who maintained their Jewish identity secretly (in some cases, until today). He is an advisor for international organizations, such as Kulanu, and has been a key player in some of the most controversial mass "returnings" of Jews to the rest of the tribe, from the crypto-Jews of northern Brazil to the Abayudaba of Uganda. He is the spiritual leader of the New Reform Temple in Kansas City and is the father of two daughters. He is the author of "HaMadrij", a guide to Judaism in Spanish. This is his first book in the English language.
