About the Author

Maureen Stearns, born in Forestville, New York, has worked extensively with struggling learners. Several years ago, she worked with a fifth grade student who could not memorize her multiplication facts, let alone understand the concept of multiplication. Maureen's search for a better way began. With this special method her student became proficient at arriving at the answer quickly and easily, knowing she had mastered a special technique that her peers did not know. Maureen's teaching career began in 1992 in St. Petersburg, Florida. She obtained a Master of Science Degree in Community Psychology, and also wrote the award-winning book, Conscious CourageŪ.
