Synopsis

Drawing on the experiences of over 2600 women ages 18 to 90, Dr. Carol Ellison has written a book designed to enhance lovemaking skills and deepen knowledge and acceptance of one's sexual self. In Women's Sexualities, readers discover the infinite variety of women's orgasms; sexual choreography; how to focus on pleasure, not performance; experiences on the path to sexual womanhood; what we want our children to know about sex; solutions to typical sexual problems and concerns; what women say about fantasies and affairs, and more. Ellison covers factors that influence sexual development, such as body awareness, sexual attitudes and values, and early lessons about love, sexuality, and sexual boundaries. Her exploration of women's experiences of erotic pleasure in adulthood covers solo sex, the components of orgasm, acquiring mutual pleasure in a heterosexual or homosexual relationship, and achieving self-acceptance. A woman's sexuality involves not only what she does in bed, but her motivations, the meaning that she and her partner attach to certain sexual behaviors, whether she is satisfied by the sex that she has, and a myriad of other physical, relational, and spiritual factors. One path toward sexual self-acceptance is the SEXSA Circle, or Sexual Self-Acceptance Circle. Find out how to form your own SEXSA Circle and how to begin your personal journey toward sexual self-acceptance.
