Poetry. African American Studies. Drawings by Kathleen Rashid. "URBAN JUNKSTAR illustrates creative depth and dexterity that exceeds most of her contemporaries. Attuned to the sounds and silences in the rural landscape and to the intensity and sophistication of urbanity, Reese's imaginary instigates internal tensions and ambiguities enhanced by shades and halftones. These poems are aurally engaging and visually enchanting. The language is keenly subtle and subliminal, and yet, is is sometimes dramatic, often humorous, but always immensely entertaining."—Melba Joyce Boyd
