then your life will control you
rather than you controlling your life."

DID YOU KNOW that our bodies completely remake themselves every seven years? Every moment we're alive, we're in a constant renewal cycle. As we stand here on terra firma, our earth is circling around the sun, which hangs in a galaxy that is in motion within and beside other galaxies. Every living thing on the planet is exchanging molecules with every other living thing. An incredible choreography of motion surrounds us. For us to stand still, cling to and refuse to move and change, contradicts every natural law in the universe.
Whether we want big, fat changes in our lives or not - they happen! Whether you're choosing to change or being forced to change, the formula for success is largely the same.
People approach change in a variety of ways - especially the unsolicited kind. Some people want life to consist of years of uninterrupted sameness. So when they are faced with another wave of change, they withdraw, stall and become resentful - as if it shouldn't have happened.
Still others think that if they don't acknowledge it, and don't cooperate with it, the change will just go away. Putting your head in the sand only nets you a dirty face. Better to look around and face the new situation - with eyes wide open.
When a situation gets difficult, some people tell themselves that someone else needs to change, and that they definitely don't need to. Hey, you can wait for others to `see the light', `smarten up' or `come around', but you may be waiting for a very long time. And if this change that you're experiencing was initiated by someone else, then it's your move now.
At times, life in the change lane can feel like being strapped to a runaway roller coaster - both exciting and scary at the same time. Some days you'd just like to go home to mom and dad, slip into your old room, put on your favorite music and stare at the ceiling. So what's a fully-grown `grown-up' supposed to do at times like these? I've got some ideas that you just might find helpful. Let's explore this territory together.
