Synopsis

Integrative Leadership challenges us to be better leaders in our own lives and in the lives of others. It proposes a process and model of transcending the newer humanistic styles of leadership to one that embraces the concept of the spiritual mystic leader. Through extremely well researched material, the authors have been successful in simplifying the complexity of leadership. They propose a seven step process of integration that can be used by anyone, regardless of position or role. They use a wonderful narrative following the journey of two coaching clients who embrace this process and transform their lives. A must read for every leader who thinks they have achieved all there is to achieve in their life and work.

From the Publisher

Integrative Leadership is harmoniously and simultaneously walking the path of the mystic (inner journey) and the path of conventional leadership (outer journey) in every day life and work. It is a way of illuminating the path that would allow individuals to evolve in three ways: from individual contributors and team players to managers; from managers to effective leaders; and from effective leaders to visionary, integrative and enlightened leaders. Integrative Leadership provides a method and process of integrating the often paradoxical duality of involutionary spiritual leadership (inside out) and evolutionary scientific leadership(outside in) within the awakened heart of the Integrative Leader. The Integrative Leader practices and helps facilitate extraordinary performance, personally and organizationally, regardless of how that performance is measured. .

From the Author

When we were first confronted with the complexity and many different definitions, models and approaches to the idea of leadership, we began an intensive three-year study of human, management and leadership development to help unravel the mystery and complexity. The purpose of our study was to search for the foundational model of leadership that we felt stood behind and informed all other models. Three criteria guided our search: the model needed to be simple and resonant, unifying and integrative, and of service and additive. Our search led us first through the past 100 years of leadership development literature, then through 300 years of scientific research, then through 3,000 years of wisdom and mystic traditions externally, while simultaneously deeply reflecting and examining our own 50 years of experience in consciously walking the path of integration internally. Our search resulted in an evolving integrative philosophy, uncovering of what we feel is the foundational model that gives rise to all other life and leadership models; and universal laws, principles and practices that guide and inform the journey of integration. Collectively we have chosen to call our results, Integrative Leadership.
