About the Author The authors know what they are talking about. Murray Sinclair is an attorney and Bart Sokolow is an environmental consultant and former UCLA professor of Environmental Science & Engineering. They have a combined 40 year track record of experience and knowledge that they bring to this book.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Murray Sinclair was the author of a prize-winning series of mystery novels (Tough Luck L.A., Only in L.A., and Goodbye L.A.). These hard-boiled fictional adventures, however, pale in comparison with the bizarre and fascinating cases he has handled as an environmental lawyer.
Mr. Sinclair graduated with honors in English from the University of California at Santa Barbara, obtaining his M.F.A. in Professional Writing from the University of Southern California, He has been an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, serving as Associate Editor of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Environmental Law Section Newsletter and as Editor-In-Chief in 1994-1995. Mr. Sinclair has also been Chairman of the Environmental Litigation & Insurance Committee of the L.A. County Bar Association Environmental Law. He has written and lectured on environmental litigation and environmental coverage issues for both private and public organizations.
Dr. Sokolow is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Registered Environmental Assessor. Dr. Sokolow has taught in the UCLA Environmental Sciences and Engineering Doctoral Program. He has published articles and spoken widely on a number of topics, including nuclear power, solar power, hydrocarbon fingerprinting, environmental forensics, and the rational use of EPA soil testing methodologies. He has been appointed to the Environmental Policy Review Board of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
