Archie Green, a 65 year member of Carpenters Union Local 2236, is a retired professor of folklore at the University of Texas at Austin. In his long career Archie Green has published books and articles on the songs, customs, and traditions of miners, piledrivers, millwrights, tinsmiths, electricians, and other working people. In August of 2007 Archie Green was given the "Living Legend" award by the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
