About the Author

Jay Heller, the founder and CEO of HJ Wealth Management LLC, is co-author of The Progression of Wealth®, a book he wrote with partner Brian Kohute, to explain their trademarked methodology of wealth management for high-net-worth families.

Jay began his career as a Certified Public Accountant advising business owners. In 2001, he became a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), a designation available only to CPAs meeting specific requirements and passing exams authorized by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Only about 7,000 of the nation s 400,000 CPAs have met the requirements.

Jay also holds NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers) Series 6, 7, 63 and 65 licenses. Jay is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelors Degree of Business Administration in Accounting. In 2005, Jay completed The Institute For Private Investors Private Wealth Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania s Wharton School of Business.

Jay, who has more than 30 years of experience as a financial advisor, is a sought-after speaker at seminars for financial professionals. Jay is often quoted in consumer media outlets including Kiplinger s Personal Finance, MarketWatch.com, and CNN as well as in industry publications such as Accounting Today, CPA Wealth Provider, and Investment News.

Brian is the President and Chief Investment Officer of HJ Wealth Management LLC. He oversees all portfolio management and investment research activities. Brian is also the co-creator of The Progression of Wealth® process, our proprietary methodology of wealth management. With more than 18 years of experience in working with business owners, high-net-worth families, and corporate executives, Brian develops, implements and monitors the firm's wealth management solutions.

In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant and Personal Financial Specialist, Brian is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. The CFA designation is a globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of investment professionals. To obtain the CFA charter, candidates must successfully complete three difficult exams and gain at least three years of qualifying work experience, among other requirements. In passing these exams, candidates demonstrate their competence, integrity and extensive knowledge in accounting, ethical and professional standards, economics, portfolio management and security analysis. While the vast majority of CFA professionals work as research analysts for Wall Street firms, Brian is one of a growing cadre of CFAs who took the three-year education program and passed the three-part to apply his investment knowledge to serving high-net-worth families.

Brian frequently is quoted on financial topics in publications such as CBS MarketWatch and Kiplinger s Personal Finance. Brian is the host of a local cable TV show, Money Matters, which airs on the Comcast Cable System.
