About the Writes of Life Format

IN EVERY SENTENCE WE WRITE, WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO incorporate all of our lifelong experiences, conversations, travels, readings, observations, dreams, traumas, tragedies, tests and triumphs. It doesn t matter whether we write letters, journals, poems, essays, short stories, novels, screenplays, lyrics, autobiography or books about others.

Writes of Life plumbs the greatest and richest story material we possess our own life experiences. It then provides tools that enable us to apply those experiences to our works. The course is designed for writers of all abilities, of all genres. Whether you re working on a book or another piece of writing for publication, writing for magazines, kindling new ideas, switching gears from non-fiction to fiction, trying to generate more creativity in your writing or getting your feet wet, the next ten chapters meet you on the middle of your road. From there, they invite you to explore the vast jungles and forests of your writing and storytelling experience. Great discoveries await you.

We ve all heard the well-worn cliché, "Every person has a novel inside them." What a gross understatement! We all have thousands of tales and many books within us. Let s put them to use and reach our deepest, most authentic expressions in the process.

Each chapter is designed to take 1-2 weeks for a busy person to complete. It includes five sections: Commentary, Concepts, Questions for Self-Reflection, Apply & Integrate, and Exercises.

Treat each of these sections as a separate adventure in both the love of writing and the thrill of discovery. Enjoy your journey and we ll see you on the bookshelves!
