About the Author

Mike Ward retired to Sedona in 2002 after teaching computer-aided design at a Midwest community college. He bacame increasingly interested in the area's geology as he hiked the many trails winding through Sedona's red rocks. Ward's interest was intensified by the many visitor questions he was asked as a National Forest Service volunteer. To better answer those questions, Ward read extensively and quizzed area geologists to learn and understand the area geology. He began writing the geologic story of Sedona in terms that he easily understood and this gude is the result of that effort. Mike ward is President of Sedona's Friends of the Forest and volunteers with the Sheriff's Verde Valley Search and Rescue. He hikes extensively with the Sedona Westerners hiking club and has written several newspaper articles for the Friends of the Fores and the Westerners. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book is donated to Sedona's Friends of the Forest, Inc.
