Ric Orlando, the chef and owner of New World Home Cooking in Woodstock, New York, learned the art of fine cooking as a side venture when he was performing and producing underground music in Boston during the 1980s. Starting as a prep cook at The Harvest in Cambridge, Masachussetts, he worked his way up the kitchen ranks, learning from such chefs as Bob Kinkaid, Emmet Fox and Jake Jacubus.
Well-known in the Hudson Valley and New York City, Ric formed his unique style of CLEAN FOOD COOKING) by combining restaurant essentials with his enthusiasm for ethnic foods in their own element, or as he says, eating in the neighborhoods.
Rics delight in creating healthful, uniquely American dishes using international flavors including garlic, fresh herbs and hot chiles has led to several appearances on NBCs Today Show and on Northeast Public Radio. He is the author of 13 Episodes in the Kitchen, a companion cookbook to his pilot TV series on WMHT, and is already at work on another cookbook featuring his flavorful recipes.
With his wife and business partner, Liz, Ric devotes his time and expertise to numerous humanitarian causes, from feeding the hungry to supporting AIDS research. He is involved in the Pure Foods Campaign and the Chef's Collaborative, Slow Food USA and is a founding member of the Empire State Chapter of The American Culinary Federation.
