California! Like the explorers and adventurers of eras gone by, the name itself always generates in me feelings of excitement, new beginnings, hope, and opportunity.
The amazing diversity of its geography provides residences and visitors alike a never ending panorama of beauty and wonder. California's vast natural features - from the fertile central valley to the majestic mountains and high lakes, scorching deserts to the hundreds of miles of a cool coastline - lures all of us to its borders.
This books project has been a homecoming for me. I actually got my start in publishing in the Bay Area in the crazy but (stimulating) sixties. Now, forty years later I am blessed wit the chance to travel the state and present my findings in beautiful color. And I have come to the conclusion that the gold in California is the natural wonders, the unique living experiences and, by far, the people.
In this book celebrating California, my goal is to not only showcase the state's beauty but inspire you to think about your next vacation, leisure time, or perhaps a long awaited dream home. So, sit back, relax, and come find California with us.
