Synopsis
This full-color book celebrates the Housatonic River that flows through western Massachusetts and Connecticut by presenting more than 25 historical and contemporary paintings of the river, along with essays on the art it has inspired for more than 200 years. Even as artists were painting the river, careless industrial uses were filling its waters with trash and pollutants. Essays by conservationists discuss the river's recent and on-going recovery. Published in conjunction with Houstatonic River Summer 2004.
