From the Publisher

What do the films Rocky, The Sixth Sense, In Her Shoes, National Treasure, and 12 Monkeys all have in common? The fact that all of these films and many others have been shot in and around Philadelphia.

While Hollywood and New York remain the cities most frequently used in movie-making, Philadelphia has quietly become a popular filming location for directors. And, for the past three years, uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer has set his popular television show, Cold Case, in the city.

Sylvester Stallone's Rocky, shot in 1975, started a trend that directors like Louis Malle, Brian DePalma and others followed. But, starting in the 1990's, more than 100 films have been made in and around the city, including Philadelphia, The Village, Unbreakable, Beloved, Jersey Girl and many more.

Filmadelphia showcases the films, television shows and artists that have, at one time or another, called Philadelphia their home. The book is the only resource of its kind featuring reviews, anecdotes, and location notes for what's been filmed here.

Finally, many actors have called the city and surrounding region home. Some, like Will Smith, Kevin Bacon and Bill Cosby were born and raised here. Others, like Bruce Willis, Calista Flockhart, Seth Green, Sylvester Stallone and Elisabeth Shue spent at least part of their lives growing up or calling Philadelphia home.

Settle down with your popcorn and drink and let "Movie Irv" take you on location to Filmadelphia.
