Synopsis

The big black and yellow bee on the yellow dandelions took responsibility. The gray and yellow chat in the blueberry bush took responsibility. Even the green frog in the cool, blue river took responsibility. But Cubby did not want to take responsibility. Cubby wanted to play. What was Cubby's responsibility - and why was it so big? Children will join in eagerly as the bear chorus teaches Cubby with the "Responsibility Song." This eighth book in the "Character Critters Series" for children 3 to 8 uses "proactive teaching-fiction" to teach responsibility in a delightful story that children will ask to read repeatedly. A clear definition of responsibility, carefully crafted for young minds, is included.

About the Author

About the Author

Elizabeth L Hamilton:

Elizabeth Hamilton's books have touched all ages, male and female, with their "proactive teaching-fiction" and non-fiction messages on character. They have been welcomed by readers in the United States and its continental neighbors Canada and Mexico, as well as in other nations such as Japan, China, New Zealand, Italy, Turkey, Nigeria, Great Britain, and the islands of Vanuatu, to name a few.

Elizabeth Hamilton has always held a keen interest in high moral values, and as a career educator, watched aghast as character walked out of the classroom. She had become a published author in 1982, but the thought of writing character-based fiction first came in 1994, while she worked with an international student group in Colorado. At the time, after-work hours were consumed with fulfilling a contract to write business books for a local company, but the idea simmered on the back burner.

In 2002, Quiet Impact published her first character book, "Passport to Courage," flagship title of the Character-in-Action Series for teens.

Suddenly, the ideas multiplied! In 2003, "Christopher Cat's Character Club" was released, launching Hamilton's Character Critters Series for ages 3 to 8. "Jeremy Rabbit's Honesty Pie" and "Little Zoh's Submissive Trunk" soon joined the Character Critters Series. By mid-2003, "Mystery at Lake Cachuma" introduced her Character Mystery Series for ages 9 and up. Also released in 2003 were the first two Character Builder Series of non-fiction how-to books: "Character" and "Courage."

In 2004, she added five books to the Character Critters Series: "Stinky Skunk's Self-Control," "Pandora Puppy's Caring Circle," "Georgey Giraffe's Giant Respect," "Pansy Pig's Patience Pit," and "Cubby Bear's Big Responsibility." To the Character Mystery Series, she added two books: "Surprise at Pearl Harbor" and "Lost on Superstition Mountain." And to the Character-in-Action Series, she added a teen romance, "Date with Responsibility," a dramatic novel that weaves responsibility into an intricate plot involving date rape, teen pregnancy, and other teen issues.

From their imprint location at character-in-action.com, Quiet Impact markets each book with Hamilton's professional lesson plans and other materials for parents and educators.

Elizabeth Hamilton was born in Connellsville, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Following graduation from Houghton College, she began teaching in the public schools of Chicago's suburbia. Three years later, she accompanied her husband to Japan for 11 years, where she taught in public and private classes before moving to Hawaii. Following his career, she taught in several other states, even while home-schooling their two children. In 1996, she and her husband went to New Zealand for three years, where she filled a position as teaching principal. She currently resides in Montana with her husband of 40+ years.
