About the Author

Born and raised in the Philippines, Dr. Nora Lapitan came to the United States as a student. She is presently a Professor at Colorado State University and is a nationally and internationally recognized scientist in the field of Plant Genetics. Over the years, she has mentored numerous students from around the world, who are now highly regarded scientists and leaders in their chosen fields. Her life and work are testimony to the idea that human beings can rise above their circumstances and create lives of full self-expression and contribution to others. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Freedom Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring forth a new paradigm of transformational leadership in education, science and business. She is married to Romel, and has two sons, Ronnie and Reggie.
