Synopsis
Agates can be found in all 50 states, that is if you understand what to look for. This book was developed to help you to think like an agate so that you can be successful in finding them. The book includes a basic description of agates, a summary of how agates formed, and a written version of the agate class that is offered on-site at the Gitche Gumee Agate and History Museum in Grand Marais, MI. There is also a description and picture of over 40 different varieties of agate. This useful rockhounders' guide includes over 100 color photographs.

About the Author
After a successful career in medical equipment marketing, the author decided to follow her passion and re-open the Gitche Gumee Agate Museum which had influenced her life-long passion for agates. The museum was closed for over 20 years when the founder, Axel Niemi, left Grand Marais, MI. After 13 months of intensive renovation, Karen re-opened the museum on July 4, 1999. In response to requests from thousands of museum visitors, Karen decided to develop this book to help rockhounds better understand and find agates.
