This is a book that makes alternate tunings simple. Unique among guitar instruction books Stringbreaker's Notebook is explicitly designed to facilitate the learning of alternate tunings. Stringbreaker's Notebook makes it simple by featuring fretboard charts for all 174 tunings. (Other alternate tuning books just show a few with a table for the rest.) In addition it offers a simple system of coding the tunings based on the displacement of every string from standard tuning in half steps. But Stringbreaker's Notebook doesn't stop there. It makes it even easier by offering cross-referencing of every tuning with every other tuning that has 4 or 5 adjacent string with intervals in common. This allows for easy adoption of unfamiliar tunings based on the tunings you know. For instance if you know DADGAD you can play immediately and effectively in 35 other tunings in the book.
