Set in a crumbling midwestern county during the 90s, The Best Part is a disquieting cycle of stories that warps together the violent yet mundane death of Eric Metzger and the folks who watch him die. Brent Johnson was born and raised in rural Kansas. He has worked off and on as a freelance journalist, and most recently he was the English editor for Heritage Magazine in Hanoi, Vietnam. He now lives in Iowa City, Iowa. This is his second novel.
