Personal account of the experimental voyage in the standard lifeboat. The purpose of the voyage was to advance the techniques of survival at sea. They would wait in the harbor during fine weather, then set sail when the storms were threatening. They sail through the storms of the Baltic, the North Sea, the English Channel, through dreaded Mistral in the Gulf of Lions, finnaly they crossed the Atlantic, landing in the West Indies, finishing the trip in Puerto Rico.

Jerzy Tarasiewicz was born in Wilno, then Poland, graduate of Polish Maritime Academy, received M.Sc. in Physics from Jagiellonian University in Krakow and for two years worked as a member of faculty there. He tought science in high school in the West Indies, then was a professor of Physics at the University of Panama. He now lives with his wife in the Florida Keys and they are summering in Maine.
